Documenting PBS while they Document Taos Pueblo

Documenting PBS while they Document Taos Pueblo

A year-and-a-half ago I was hired by Chicago’s PBS to photograph them while they shot a documentary featuring Taos Pueblo. “Ten Homes that Changed America” will (finally!) air tonight on NM PBS at 7pm! If you are outside of NM, check your local listings so you can see this three-part series!

In the summer of 2015, Hayden and I began his senior photo shoot at the Taos County Fair; we captured this senior with his 4H animals. He wanted to do an additional shoot later in the winter, when there was snow on the ground.
I called Hayden in January to see if he wanted to schedule his “part II” senior session. OF COURSE he had broken his leg the day before while skiing! He decided to do the shoot later in the spring after his cast was gone. In these images Hayden is wearing a brace on his knee. Although Hayden was still on crutches, we did most of the shoot without them. The pictures came out great.
Here’s to Hayden and the entire class of 2016, and the unexpected surprises your senior year can bring!

Valentine’s Day Wedding in Taos, NM

Valentine’s Day Wedding in Taos, NM

The air was crisp and cool but we still had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this Valentine’s Day wedding outside in February! This bride and groom came to Taos from Albuquerque to elope (they brought a few good friends for support). They choose for their wedding to be held on the staircase at El Monte Sagrado in Taos. They choose the staircase so they could see all of their friends perfectly during their wedding ceremony. Congratulations to Martha and Ted!

Winter Wedding Outdoors in Taos, NM

This couple was fun, hilarious, and truly in love! I arrived early to get some romanticy photos of Megan and Jon. We had so much fun walking around, and they were candid and photogenic! Their morning wedding was brisk but it was a beautiful day for February. The turquoise colors (all shawls crocheted by the bride) were vibrant and very New Mexico. Cheers to a lovely couple. A big thanks for coming to Taos, NM for your outdoor, destination wedding!

This little guy was revved up and ready for his 18-month-old portraits! His mommy and daddy danced and danced behind me as I took photos, and the toddler laughed and laughed!
The winter air was nippy so we took a few indoor breaks. The light from the fire place and the dark walls are so beautiful in the backgrounds.

February Engagement Shoot for June Wedding

February Engagement Shoot for June Wedding

Had fun with this couple who I met at The Taos Wedding Expo! Unfortunately I am already booked on their wedding date, but I still had a blast photographing Tracy and Mario’s engagement shoot. After many cold months, the end-of-February weather felt balmy and pleasant. The early morning sun gave us some long, beautiful shadows. I loved the camouflage outfits and was amazed at how much they really did blend in with the backgrounds!
