A Gazebo Wedding at Taos Plaza

A Gazebo Wedding at Taos Plaza

In lieu of the construction in and around of the Taos Plaza for the next year, I thought a blog post on a wedding in the gazebo at Taos plaza was a good tribute. This wedding happened on May 5th several years ago, so a very similar time of year as now. The weather, however, is amazingly differently than shown in these photos. We had snow falling in town this morning, which is not unusual for April or May.
The Taos Plaza was established in 1796 and has been a venue for meetings, gatherings, and celebrations for over two centuries.

The adobe buildings on the plaza are all connected and are a simple and beautiful New Mexico background, especially with the hanging chile ristras. The Taos plaza gazebo is one of our larger elopement package choices for a venue. This venue is unavailable until next year, and we’ll be ready to shoot the plaza after the facelift of the old jailhouse.

50th Birthday Vacation

50th Birthday Vacation

Callie and Russel came to the mountains of Taos, NM for their annual April vacation which coincided with Callie’s 50th birthday! These two stayed at El Monte Sagrado a beautiful resort in town. We had fun walking around the grounds of El Monte and tracking down the early blooms on trees to use for backgrounds. We had a super calm morning amongst this unusually windy spring so it was fun to be outside in the cool mountain springtime temperatures.

Small and Intimate Wedding on Rim of Rio Grande Gorge

Small and Intimate Wedding on Rim of Rio Grande Gorge

This small wedding group came here from Texas! We took a little walk out to the best spot overlooking the Rio Grande gorge and bridge. The wind made herself known as she whipped around, only to make beautiful formations with Mackenzie’s dress. The paper flower bouquet was made from Harry Potter book pages and names like “Dumbledore” and “Potter” adorned the buds. Steven and Mackenzie were comfy in their “wedding boots” and had a special ceremony with crowns made with leaves. Popular officiant, Dan Jones, wrote a beautiful ceremony and every single guest cried. Congratulations to these Texans on their destination wedding to Taos, NM!

New Ramada at SpiriTaos

New Ramada at SpiriTaos

SpiriTaos is private property that is owned by wedding officiant, Dan Jones. This gorgeous spot has Taos Mountain as the exquisite backdrop for private wedding ceremonies. Have I mentioned that Dan is a professional landscaper and gardener? SpiriTaos was already gorgeous but has been getting a facelift these past eight months, and although it’s not complete yet, Toni and Steven were able to enjoy their wedding with the grassy meadows and beautiful views. The sun sets perfectly for a stunning golden hour light on the faces while still capturing Taos Mountain in the background. I can’t wait until this venue is completed, it’s one of the most perfect wedding venues in Taos.

An April Elopement in the Cool Mountains of Taos

An April Elopement in the Cool Mountains of Taos

New Mexico is known for it’s gorgeous sunshine and warm spring days. But not every outdoor wedding in New Mexico can be planned in advance and still have perfect weather on the day of the celebration! Stephanie and Trevor happened to get a cloudy, somewhat cool and breezy, April wedding day in the mountains of Taos. And it was perfect. The clouds set a dramatic mood along with Stephanie’s hat and Trevor’s purple tie. The horse across the street was out and about because of the cool temperatures. The gardens at SpiriTaos, still in hibernation but beautiful with earth tones and mountain views. Congratulations to this couple and their happily ever after that will be full of sunshine, no matter the weather.
