I’ve been photographing these kids since they were tiny children, it’s so fun to see them grow up over the years! Now, young adults, these two are 14 and 16 years old and off to college in a few years. This family lives near the arroyos in the north valley of Albuquerque and we loved having the empty ditch and old irrigation system as a prop! Although this was an end-of-November shoot, we hit “peak autumn” in Albuquerque and the foliage was on fire!
It’s “engagement season!!” More people get engaged between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day than any other time of year. We love doing engagement sessions to mark this special time and our couples love having engagement photos so they can send off a save the date card to their guests! Engagement photos in the autumn and winter are a fun change from the summer and provide beautiful, earthy backgrounds.
Although we did this family photo shoot on a neighborhood street, it’s a fairly busy street for a small town. We did tons of traffic dodging and waiting for people and dogs to move so we could have clear shots. The photos appear calm and serene, so I think we did I good job faking it. Giant congrats to this newly engaged couple and cheers to an awesome blended family.
The fall foliage peak was over but we still found some beautiful autumn colors to include with this father-daughter family photo session. Lucas and Juniper and I took advantage of a beautiful side street in town that had a few lasting yellows and golds, it even had one tree that was still green! It was a long and strange autumn this year in Taos, the wonderful thing about that was we had lots of time to get every baby, family, senior, engagement shoot, and wedding whom wanted those gorgeous autumn earth tones in their portraits.
Shawna and Jay planned months ahead and guessed when the time to get married under the wonder of the golden leaves in the autumn in Taos would be…and they nailed the date!! This year the *perfect* fall foliage date was the weekend of October 15th. The sun was shining and warm, there was a perfect light breeze. The bride had a autumn colored bouquet that was even adorned with some pine cones! The light was perfect coming through the leaves, it was a good day to be a photographer.
