New Year’s Day Formal Elopement

New Year’s Day Formal Elopement

On New Year’s Day I had the pleasure of photographing this formal resort elopement in the round room of El Monte Sagrado. Howard Bad Hand led the soft vows after a quiet sage smudging ceremony. The wedding couple was blessed as were their rings and quiet prayers were offered. The tobacco ties were gorgeous and because the “something blue” of the wedding.

This fun couple had such a great wedding date…1-11-22! Although this couple traveled to Arroyo Hondo from Texas and the temperature was 26 degrees I don’t think Carrie and Matt felt the cool air one bit. The elopement on their rental’s porch had beautiful views and a blue fire burned nearby. We captured the obligatory frisking shots since Matt is a cop. This lawyer/cop team are on their way to happily ever after! Congratulations!

Hurray for the first wedding of 2022! Cadia and Gareth made a last minute decision to get married on 1-1-22. Their wedding date was blessed by mother nature in the way of a giant winter storm that closed down Taos for several days following! Dan Jones had SpiriTaos shoveled and ready under the beautiful under the blanket of snow. Sacred Taos mountain played peek-a-boo. Gareth’s family joined the wedding via Zoom while Cadia’s mother and sister joined in person under the Ramada. The ceremony was as perfect as the gorgeous snow.

Outdoors in Snowy Angel Fire

Outdoors in Snowy Angel Fire

This giant family came to celebrate New Year’s Day in Angel Fire, New Mexico. The day prior to this photo shoot the mountains received two feet of fresh snow, it was so fun to capture the snowy grounds, conifers, and aspens in these outdoor January family vacation portraits!
The priority to this family was to get a causal group photos of everyone… The darling buffalo plaid outfits were so coordinated and seasonal and the children were so cooperative, this was an easy feat. We also captured each individual family outside. These memories took less than an hour to create and the pictures are precious and will last forever. Thanks to this family for such a memorable time!

I got together with this darling couple earlier in the afternoon on wedding day since their entire wedding was outdoors after dark. We captured their smiles in the daylight before I left to come back after dark.
This bride and groom came to Taos for their destination elopement and planned the ceremony to be during the 2nd full moon in January. This full moon was also a lunar eclipse. This was officially my first “Blue Blood Moon” wedding. Additionally, the wedding was shot in a labyrinth… It was unique and beautiful and very Taos!
