Family Portraits in Summertime

Family Portraits in Summertime

The children’s young faces are so precious to document at then look at later on down the road. Rarely are photos taken for us, but for those that we love instead. The history of family photography goes back to the beginning of photography. Thank goodness in modern days we have the opportunity to capture smiles and movement without the entire photo being blurry which makes it easier on the photographer and the model!

Desert Elopement With Mountains as Backdrop

Joy and Rob traveled from California to New Mexico to elope among the mountains of Arroyo Seco. Taos Mountain is considered very sacred to the Indigenous population in Taos. Joy and Rob were married in a ceremony that paid a great deal of respect to Taos Mountain (Pueblo Peak) and the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. This couple honored the native wedding traditions in the southwest, including the traditional wedding vase ceremony. As soon as the ceremony ended, the sun exploded into the golden hour. We walked through a high-desert field for some romanticy photographs and the bride and groom found a horseshoe (sure to be good luck)! Congrats to these amazing people!

He traveled from Oregon and she traveled from Mississippi and they eloped in Taos, NM! We had such a good time hanging out in the woods, off a trail in El Salto. The morning air was cool and the woods were quiet. The ceremony, license signing, toast, and formal photos took just about one hour and then we all headed into Arroyo Seco for the famous 4th of July parade down Main Street! I love 4th of July weddings, something about getting married on a day that celebrates independence, it’s delightfully ironic!
