This was a VERY cold weekend in Taos and this couple did not complain one time! Despite the cold, we had a lot of fun getting to know one another during this engagement session. I will shoot this couple’s wedding in May in Santa Fe so an engagement shoot was a great way for us to work together prior to the big day!
The fall time colors were just starting to appear at this early October engagement shoot! We can usually get about 80 REALLY fantastic photos in about 45 minutes during your photo session. We always get traditional and “artsy” photos of the engaged couple, and photos of you separately if you’d like as well. We have awesome locations with a variety of backgrounds “up our sleeve,” but are always more than happy to learn about your incredible locations as well!
Mavis and Aaron won a free engagement sitting from Poetic Images by entering our website contest online. When I found out that they have a year old son, we decided to get some family photographs as well. The leaves on the trees were changing and offered us colorful and unique natural backdrops. Mavis and Aaron will exchange their wedding vows next August at the Angel Fire Country Club.
I love that you can “feel” the Taos springtime in these engagement photos. The buds are barely coming out on some of the trees and bushes, and there are small leaves on the others. The light green is radiant in the backgrounds and the earth tones are still prevalent from winter’s slow departure.
This couple was all cuddles and smiles, which makes our job easy!! An engagement session actually creates cuddles and smiles, as your photographer will put you into poses that are oh-so-romantic. An engagement sitting only takes about 45 minutes and is a great way for you to get to know your wedding photographer and see samples of his/her work before your “big day.” Engagement shoots are done anywhere from a month to a year prior to your wedding and the photos are often times used for invitations, thank you cards, and to display at your wedding reception.
The most common background color request for photographs is green. But I love wintertime photographs. The brown grasses and the white snow bring so much contrast to this couple’s engagement photos. Additionally, the bright and vivid colors in the clothing definitely add “pop” to each image. If you can bear the colder weather, the winter photo-shoot is the way to go!
