Wedding Ceremony in Flower Garden

Wedding Ceremony in Flower Garden

This wedding was a private elopement: the bride, groom, officiant (Dan Jones), and photographer (me) only. The start time was 7pm and the light was gorgeous however by 7:15pm the bride and groom still had not arrived. Dan reached out to the wedding couple and they were shocked as they thought their wedding was the next evening. Instantly we all reviewed our contracts and communications and sure enough their wedding date was mentioned several times and Dan and I were right on target. Bre and James were just leaving dinner and were mortified. They raced to their hotel, changed clothes, and arrived approximately 40 minutes late. We still had some beautiful light and rushed to use the golden hour luminescence around the whimsical flower garden.

Getting Hitched at a Sweet Little Taos Elopement

Getting Hitched at a Sweet Little Taos Elopement

Allie and Stephen had wonderful wedding plans to get married in Banff, Canada with a ton of family and friends. And like so many weddings, these two had to “pivot” and refigure their plans due to coronavirus. After much searching and thinking and deciding and confirming and then some more deciding and pivoting, the engaged couple decided on a sweet little private ceremony with just their dog and parents, in the mountains of Taos, NM. The wind was wild on what was otherwise a perfect July evening. The light was so present and giving. This couple had fun, and laughed and cried and enjoyed every windy minute of their wedding elopement.
Here’s to merry weddings and laughable moments. And here’s to knowing that plans never go exactly as planned, so just roll with it. Many congratulations to Allie and Stephen!

Wedding on the Taos Mesa

Wedding on the Taos Mesa

This darling couple road tripped all the way from Portland, Oregon to Taos, New Mexico to get married with Shaman, Sandra Chestnutt. The wedding took place on the mesa in the evening before sunset. We had outstanding light and perfect weather. There wasn’t a person for miles and the quiet was welcomed and embraced; out of no where an army helicopter was above us and hovered above the bride and groom, and then it was gone…an unexpected congratulations! The views of the Rio Grande Gorge were stunning and the ceremony was memorable. Congratulations to Lisa and Evan, a delightful pair who will no doubt live happily ever after.

Wedding at El Santuario de Chimayo

Wedding at El Santuario de Chimayo

What fun to photograph the bride and bridesmaids at popular resort, Buffalo Thunder just North of Santa Fe. Maurine and Antonio’s wedding ceremony followed the pre-wedding photos and took place at famous pilgrimage site and Catholic Church: El Santuario de Chimayo. The ceremony was watched by both personal guests of the bride and groom, and by tourists whom were just visiting the sacred site. A random dog made himself comfortable next to the bridesmaids’ feet during the ceremony.
We traveled back to Taos for an awesome New Mexico reception (400+ people) at Sagebrush Convention Center. The band had everyone up and moving on the dance floor. The newly weds were lucky to have a beautiful sunset bless their marriage and we captured some outstanding silhouettes. Congratulations to Maurine (from Angel Fire) and Antonio (from Taos)!
