Michelle and Jeff returned to Taos, NM to celebrate their wedding in 2018! We did an anniversary shoot and went to the same places we went to take pictures on their wedding day five years ago. Five years ago this bride and groom got tattoos on their Taos wedding elopement so we started their shoot at the tattoo shop and walked around downtown for a minute. Next we hit the Slide Trail and just like their wedding day, the winds picked up as soon as we arrived. We ended the shoot at Adobe Pines Inn in Ranchos de Taos where this couple stayed and had a labyrinth wedding. Congratulations to five years and another Taos happily ever after.
Callie and Russel came to the mountains of Taos, NM for their annual April vacation which coincided with Callie’s 50th birthday! These two stayed at El Monte Sagrado a beautiful resort in town. We had fun walking around the grounds of El Monte and tracking down the early blooms on trees to use for backgrounds. We had a super calm morning amongst this unusually windy spring so it was fun to be outside in the cool mountain springtime temperatures.
For their 20 year celebration, Cyndi and Jorge renewed their wedding vows on the banks of the Rio Grande in Arroyo Hondo, northern New Mexico. The historic John Dunn Bridge is a beautiful background as it proudly sits over the Big River. This bridge was built in the 1930’s and was the only way to travel into Taos County from the western side of the gorge. Cyndi and Jorge brought their best-dog to stand with them and the ceremony was performed by Dan Jones of Embracing Ceremony. This private vow renewal was done early in the morning as this is a popular local swimming hangout in the afternoon.
These portraits are of my mom and dad!! It was less than seven degrees out, which is the coldest weather I’ve ever shot my camera in. My camera (Canon, of course) worked perfectly and I was wearing a parka so I was fine, it was my parents who really had to suffer (thank goodness I work fast and we took less than ten photos)! The snowfall the day before provided us with beautiful backgrounds and high contrast as the wood on the house and the dark evergreens were covered with snow.
June is Pride month and so this month I honor the LGBTQIA community! I have shot SO MANY same-sex marriages, I feel lucky!! Here is a small handful of some of the weddings that I could remember off of the top of my head. Someday my son (now seven-years-old) will be shocked that I lived in a time when gay marriage was against the law. Unbelievable. Today I celebrate diversity and I raise a glass to all of the same-sex marriages I have had the honor of documenting over the years.
