These girls are two months old and what fun they are having looking and watching the action around them! This is a fun time to do photos as we can capture the wonder in the eyes. About three months old we can make the baby smile on command, and six months old is usually the photo shoot where the baby is sitting up solo. The next milestone, nine-months-old, is when children are usually standing up by holding onto something and the final photo is the one-year-old pose where the child is standing up all by themselves! These beautiful milestones are over quickly, which is why we capture images to keep forever. When you are pregnant, you can set up your prenatal photo session and then your newborn, 3/6/9 months, and year old photo shoot at one time and mix and match photos for a wall-folio.
The children’s young faces are so precious to document at then look at later on down the road. Rarely are photos taken for us, but for those that we love instead. The history of family photography goes back to the beginning of photography. Thank goodness in modern days we have the opportunity to capture smiles and movement without the entire photo being blurry which makes it easier on the photographer and the model!
This little fella came with the new year as he was born the first week of January! At one week old, this mister was a joy to work with. His first-time mama was sensitive to his needs and made him feel safe when he was a little unsure of the camera. We had this shoot scheduled before this baby was born. This is an easy shoot for mom because she doesn’t even need to be in the pictures!
There is nothing more fun to look at than a smiling baby! Little Maya was so happy before her morning nap. She smiled with her big sister, and smiled with her family, and smiled all by herself! This little girl just celebrated her 1st birthday and was able to show off her big-girl standing in her one-year old portrait. We were also able to capture some fun shots of big-sister, and some individual headshots of mom and dad as well.
Having young children is the perfect excuse to have a professional family photo session!
What fun to do a family photo shoot with these smiling, happy girls! These sisters, ages one and three, giggled and smiled at the perfect times. They set up their own candid photos and allowed me just to shoot as they sat and looked cute together. I think it’s amazing how much the older child looks like her mom, and how much the younger girl looks like her father…darling!
We love taking family photos! Schedule your photo session now while we still have wonderful summery backgrounds!
When I commented to this mom about how her children were so well behaved, she laughed and mentioned that all the meltdowns came at home earlier in the day! To me, these children seemed perfect. We knocked out the photos in this shoot in less than 40 minutes, it was dreamy.
In a family shoot we try to get the entire group together, and break the shots down into whatever you prefer as well. For instance in this family shoot, we captured photographs of mom and dad together, photos of the kids together, and photos of all four family members together. Some people also want photos of the kids individually, and mom with the kids, and dad with the kids, etc.
To take a successful photo shoot with a baby involved, the photos with the baby need to be done within 45 minutes. After 45 minutes the baby will get tired and of course turns into a pumpkin as well (just making sure you are still reading)! The morning meltdowns and kids getting tired after 45 minutes is a small price to pay for a family photo session where the smiles are documented forever.
