Outdoor January Wedding at 17 Degrees

Outdoor January Wedding at 17 Degrees

Maggie and Cory decided that the 17 degrees weather was fine a fine temperature for an outdoor wedding! This couple, adorned in fishnets, suspenders, and Chuck Taylors, were wed at local bed and breakfast, Hacienda del Sol. The bride and groom’s best friends joined them on the journey from Albuquerque to Taos for the early January destination wedding. Congratulations to Maggie and Cory, what a photogenic wedding!

An Elopement in Northern New Mexico

An Elopement in Northern New Mexico

There’s a different excitement at elopements. The elopement wedding ceremony is completely about the couple. Not about the wedding party. Not about the guests. Not about the flower girl or the ring bearer.
Elopements are the wedding ceremonies that are emotional for the bride and groom. The wedding vows that aren’t ever put on for show. An elopement is when the couples’ entire focus is on one another. It’s about each other. Totally.

Taos, NM is a unique place for an elopement. It is for the couple that wants a rare backdrop. It’s off the beaten path. It’s the road less followed. Taos is place with “charm.” A place with wonderful weather, stunning views, and colorful sunsets.

The Gold of Fall Leaves

The Gold of Fall Leaves

Shawna and Jay planned months ahead and guessed when the time to get married under the wonder of the golden leaves in the autumn in Taos would be…and they nailed the date!! This year the *perfect* fall foliage date was the weekend of October 15th. The sun was shining and warm, there was a perfect light breeze. The bride had a autumn colored bouquet that was even adorned with some pine cones! The light was perfect coming through the leaves, it was a good day to be a photographer.

Wedding on the Taos Mesa

Wedding on the Taos Mesa

This darling couple road tripped all the way from Portland, Oregon to Taos, New Mexico to get married with Shaman, Sandra Chestnutt. The wedding took place on the mesa in the evening before sunset. We had outstanding light and perfect weather. There wasn’t a person for miles and the quiet was welcomed and embraced; out of no where an army helicopter was above us and hovered above the bride and groom, and then it was gone…an unexpected congratulations! The views of the Rio Grande Gorge were stunning and the ceremony was memorable. Congratulations to Lisa and Evan, a delightful pair who will no doubt live happily ever after.

The Best Ever Ending of a Beginning

The Best Ever Ending of a Beginning

Jessica and Auda are brides from Texas who came to their New Mexico neighbors to get married in front of Taos Mountain at SpiriTaos. The photos from Jessica and Auda’s wedding are some of my favorite “end of ceremony” photos ever. Usually the married couple kisses and then walks down the aisle for the recessional. Jessica and Auda were different. Their emotion and excitement was ecstatically beautiful and so photogenic. These are 11 successive images that I captured in less than one minute at the end of this ceremony. And they are beautiful.

Small Wedding at Taos Ski Valley Waterfall

Small Wedding at Taos Ski Valley Waterfall

This awesome family came from Texas to hike up the Taos Ski Valley mountain to have this fabulous waterfall as the backdrop to their wedding ceremony. It was a gorgeous morning for a destination wedding. The delightful baby-daughter of the bride and groom slept in her car seat during the hike and woke up just as the ceremony started. This bride and groom were so relaxed and continued the ceremony with mom holding her daughter. Everyone was happy.
The Taos Ski Valley is a beautiful place for a wedding ceremony in the summer as well as the winter. This super fun wedding was followed by a reception afterwards at skiers and locals’ favorite restaurant, The Bavarian.
