Lesbians from the East Coast Elope in Taos, NM

These awesome women have been together for 35 years. They knew that “one day” same-sex marriages would be legal, they never thought it would happen in their lifetime.
When this couple went to the county clerk to pick up their wedding license, the woman behind the counter wished the engaged congratulations and explained that she had just married her girlfriend, now wife. So the county clerk employee and her wife stood up as witnesses for the elder brides.
It was a joy and honor to take photos of this wedding. We all laughed and we all cried. Cheers to these newlyweds!

What fun to shoot another one of Dan Jones / Embracing Ceremony’s wedding packages at the Taos Art Museum! We had beautiful weather and beautiful light at this late afternoon wedding elopement. Hannah and Kelly booked their hotel prior to knowing their wedding site, and it turns up they were staying right next door! They also walked to their dinner site at nearby Lamberts. Cheers to the newlyweds!

Same-Sex Marriage Elopement from Albuquerque

Same-Sex Marriage Elopement from Albuquerque

These ladies came to Taos from Albuquerque to elope! Julie and Theresa’s friends and family were clueless to their “real” plans of their weekend rendezvous, aka Their Taos Wedding!! The weather was absolutely perfect for this February 4th outdoor wedding ceremony. The same-sex marriage was officiated by Reverend Dan Jones of Taos’ Embracing Ceremony. Erika and Mark of Hacienda del Sol were the witnesses for this tiny wedding. The brides celebrated with stories, laughs, cake, and champagne after a twenty minute ceremony and some wedding photos. Congrats to this beautiful couple!!

Late February Wedding at Local Museum

Late February Wedding at Local Museum

Kim and Bob brought their puppy along for a few photos together before their elopement in Taos, NM! This was the first time that I photographed a wedding at the Taos Art Museum. The museum and workhouse light is amazing and the woodwork is so giving to photography! This couple was married on the top floor of the museum which was a room full of windows that created beautiful light on the floor. The weather was sunny and warm and perfect for an afternoon wedding in February! What a pleasure to photograph at a new wedding venue right in downtown Taos!

Outdoor January Wedding at 17 Degrees

Outdoor January Wedding at 17 Degrees

Maggie and Cory decided that the 17 degrees weather was fine a fine temperature for an outdoor wedding! This couple, adorned in fishnets, suspenders, and Chuck Taylors, were wed at local bed and breakfast, Hacienda del Sol. The bride and groom’s best friends joined them on the journey from Albuquerque to Taos for the early January destination wedding. Congratulations to Maggie and Cory, what a photogenic wedding!

An Elopement in Northern New Mexico

An Elopement in Northern New Mexico

There’s a different excitement at elopements. The elopement wedding ceremony is completely about the couple. Not about the wedding party. Not about the guests. Not about the flower girl or the ring bearer.
Elopements are the wedding ceremonies that are emotional for the bride and groom. The wedding vows that aren’t ever put on for show. An elopement is when the couples’ entire focus is on one another. It’s about each other. Totally.

Taos, NM is a unique place for an elopement. It is for the couple that wants a rare backdrop. It’s off the beaten path. It’s the road less followed. Taos is place with “charm.” A place with wonderful weather, stunning views, and colorful sunsets.
