This bride and groom had never been to Taos before their wedding; their best friends (from Albuquerque) suggested this resort in Taos and the wedding location was decided!
It was the 5th of January and it was over 50 degrees on this warm winter day. We did the pre-wedding photos outdoors and then moved into a gallery with a pretty view of treetops! Congratulations to Lori and Matt and here’s to the first wedding photographed in 2018!
We had this prenatal shoot on the schedule when this mama was three months pregnant and these pictures were taken three weeks before the baby was born! This was the coldest shoot that Poetic Images did in December in 2017. The temperature was lower than 20 degrees when we got started (and everyone had to breathe on cue so “breath smoke” wasn’t in the photos), amazing! Congratulations to this entire family and the recent birth of baby William! I had fun on this fun December family shoot!
What an absolute pleasure to hangout with this couple for an hour capturing these photos. Although we haven’t had significant snow this season, the beautiful yellow grasses and brown earth tones are soft and stunning backgrounds. We did a quick outfit change so we could get some different styles in the images. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, Cynthia and Dave will frame some of these prints and give them to their kids for Christmas gifts.
I’ve been photographing these kids since they were tiny children, it’s so fun to see them grow up over the years! Now, young adults, these two are 14 and 16 years old and off to college in a few years. This family lives near the arroyos in the north valley of Albuquerque and we loved having the empty ditch and old irrigation system as a prop! Although this was an end-of-November shoot, we hit “peak autumn” in Albuquerque and the foliage was on fire!
Fall foliage photo shoots are the best! James and Shannon waited to capture their engagement photos in the autumn we could capture the yellow leaves as well. The cottonwood trees on Burch Street provided amazing color for our backgrounds. We incorporated latila fences and adobe bricks into our photos to really get the southwest feeling. Juniper, James’ daughter was included to get some family photos as well.
This autumn was giving and the colors lasted for quite a while before the leaves fell off the trees. This single-mom took advantage of the beautiful autumn colors and had a mother/daughter shoot to document her daughter at five years old, and also to send out pictures with Christmas cards! This entire shoot was done in under 45 minutes. We climbed trees and threw leaves and laughed. Call us to set up your autumn family shoot. Usually it’s the 1st three weeks of October that have the yellow leaves, schedule in advance to get the day/time that you want!
