This couple has a wedding scheduled at Hacienda del Sol in Taos, NM on the first day of 2012. At the beginning of December, they called the Town of Taos about obtaining their marriage license and they found out that all government offices in Taos would be closed on Friday, December 30 through January 2nd, the only days Laila and Joe would be in Taos! So this smiley couple drove from Oklahoma City to Taos for a “quick” road trip, all so they would have a marriage license in hand for their wedding on New Years Day.
What an adventure!!
Both Coco (four months) and Lola (three years) had so much fun in the crisp fall air for their autumn portraits. While I photographed Coco, Lola ran around a played in the grass and leaves; when I photographed Lola, Coco loved to watch Lola and every move that Lola made. I believe it’s important to choose a location for that is ideal for your family. If you have a high energy three year old, I usually recommend taking your photographs on location at a site where the child can run around an not be constrained for more than a few minutes at a time. For small babies and newborns, I love using our indoor studio and fluffy blankets to cater to your little one’s warmth and comfort.
About once a month, I drive to Albuquerque to take care of clients who are not able to make it up to Taos. Driving only an hour or two away can sometimes make a huge difference in the way of weather. While the leaves had been falling off of the trees for several weeks in Taos, the backgrounds in Albuquerque were still green!
This photo shoot was done at Los Poblanos Farms in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. The mums add a perfect feeling of autumn and these kids were dressed in lovely fall colors as well.
Vanessa was thinking ahead when she scheduled an appointment in September for “whenever the leaves are golden in October.” We kept a good eye on those leaves and I believe we got amazing results! Now is a perfect time to coordinate your family schedules and get together for a family portrait! An engagement sitting is an excellent way for you to get to know your photographer before your wedding day. An engagement session is casual and low key and doesn’t carry the “pressure” that wedding day brings. I always encourage my clients to bring two outfits to their engagement shoot: something casual and something a bit more dressy, this way there will be a different “feel” to your photographs. I love to do many different poses, both traditional and contemporary. Engagement sittings can be done in our studio or at any location (indoor or outdoor) here in Taos, NM.
Nicolette has been modeling for artists for over a decade; I was so pleased for the opportunity to photograph this beautiful, native Taosena! Nicolette admits that she was very nervous prior to her photo session, but within 15 minutes we were both talking and laughing and she was totally relaxed.
There is more to being a studio photographer than just pushing the button on the camera. I pride myself on a shining personality that allows me to easily chat and connect with my clients. Without this connection, I feel it would be difficult to execute even one image that truly represents the personality of my subject.
