Had fun with this couple who I met at The Taos Wedding Expo! Unfortunately I am already booked on their wedding date, but I still had a blast photographing Tracy and Mario’s engagement shoot. After many cold months, the end-of-February weather felt balmy and pleasant. The early morning sun gave us some long, beautiful shadows. I loved the camouflage outfits and was amazed at how much they really did blend in with the backgrounds!
It was such a pleasure working with Angel in Penasco, NM to capture her senior photos for her graduation invitations! Penasco still had a little bit of snow on the ground so we were able to utilize the snow to get a variety of colorful backgrounds. Here’s to Angel and all of the other seniors graduating in the class of 2016 in Penasco, NM! Hooray!
It was a very cool 36 degrees when I had this senior tromping through the snow to get the photos we wanted! Although we were very limited with the light, we were able to achieve portraits with many different backgrounds and many different looks. High school senior photos usually only take about one hour and we end up having fun! No matter if we are in the winter, autumn, spring, or summer, your seniors’ photos will be outstanding!
Although this mama was only six months along, her maternity/Christmas card photos came out perfectly! This little baby bump was showcased with mommy and daddy and will make a “real” appearance on February 29th, leap year!
Congratulations to Amber and Joel and to the big changes that are coming soon! I’m so excited to meet this little darling and take some newborn portraits as well!
We took these photos before the snow hit, the non-snowy scenery actually looks funny to me now as we’ve had so much snow in the last few weeks and the ground has been covered!
Tamika is 3-years-old and is a princess and wiggle worm and a delight! The afternoon was cold and there was a slight (but brisk) breeze; this little girl didn’t complain once!
A big pat on the back to this beautiful family who squeezed in this last-minute shoot for Christmas card pictures. It was a tricky time but everyone made it and these photos are well worth it!

The temperature in Red River last Saturday morning was 34, and according to weather.com, it felt like 21. This photo shoot was a big dose of FREEZING for this Texas family who was visiting Red River for vacation.
We posed and shot FAST and got some winning photos! The children were amazing before they turned into total icicles–which is when we decided to end the photo session. Autumn in New Mexico, ever unpredictable!
These women were awesome to work with and I absolutely love the coordinating outfits, especially the colors!
We squeezed in this shoot right before the first major snow in Taos. The leaves were still turning colors and the crisp nip of autumn was in the air. This engagement shoot is for Kayla and Mod’s wedding next September at KTAOS Solar Center. I cannot wait to see these cuties in their wedding gear, what a creative pair!
It’s hard to believe it’s “that” time of year again! Yes, Taos High School senior pictures for the yearbook are due on Halloween! In October we do a lot of senior sessions. I love how every senior has a different vision as to what they want from their senior photo shoot. This is Makayla who has recently located to Taos from out east. Have an awesome senior year, Makayla!
This was the best gay wedding ever! Dan Jones and I were thrilled to be chosen to officiate and photograph this Taos wedding. What a wonderful group of people, who had already know one another for 30 years! What a special wedding to document!
This was a destination wedding, a destination, double wedding. A destination, double, gay wedding. FUN!!!
These couples were awesome and we all hit it off immediately! The two mile hike in El Salto was beautiful and we chatted the entire way. I wore the same shirt as the bride. We both picked the same “casual” wear. A true LOL moment that will probably never happen to me at a wedding again!
Every wedding is different. Sometimes VERY different. I had a blast at this wedding and I look forward to the next very different wedding too.
It’s October and in Taos the leaves are just starting to fall! There are slight yellows along with the greens in the leaves and grasses. The air is crisp and it’s easy to get those delicious rosy cheeks that are so wonderful in autumn photography. The temperatures are still warm considering what we will be shooting in next month, and the leaves will be golden in just another week or two. Call us and let us capture your family photographs and enjoy a family outing in the crisp and beautiful fall foliage!
Could not pass up this beautiful sunflower backdrop on a gravel road in Llano Quemado, south of Taos!
Had a fabulous time trying to keep this 3-year old wiggle worm still and smiling while shooting these portraits! Little Eli loves to chat and we talked about monsters, robots, and of course flowers. I had picked two apples at a previous shoot and they were a perfect distraction for this little man!
The sunshine was gorgeous and hot at this 10am wedding ceremony in El Prado! The sunflowers were in full bloom and the mountain was majestic. Popular wedding venue, SpiriTaos, was in all it’s glory with the end of the summer gardens in pristine condition.
Megan, Aaron, and I went to Carson National Forest to finish out our photography time, with a quick visit to the labyrinth at San Geronimo on the way. The shade was cool and inviting and this beautiful couple just fell into pose without any help from me.
Congratulations to this awesome couple from Southern New Mexico, and may they have a very “happily ever after!”
The “baby” in these photos turned one-year old this week! These maternity shots were taken last year and have been sitting in my blog “drafts” ever since then. It’s been a busy year for me as much as these new parents!
Maternity shoots are fun because the photos are memories of a pregnancy *and* memories of yourself before your life endured a major change! Some women want the shoot to be of only themselves, some women want to include their partner. Whatever you choose, we will document this special time with memories that will make you smile 20 years down the road.
This sweet couple came all the way from Massachusetts to New Mexico for their destination wedding at El Monte Sagrado, a four diamond resort in Northern New Mexico. Many people claim that Taos is a magical place, and this couple may agree. The pouring rain stopped in perfect timing for this wedding ceremony to start. And the rain commenced again as soon as I packed up my camera gear. Congratulations to these awesome East Coast newly weds! May the luck of wedding-day-rain follow you forever!
Beautiful couple from California who came “home” to Dakota to recite their wedding vows! This simple church didn’t have electricity and the altar decor of candles in Ball jars were a perfect combination with the natural light. The country club wedding reception was in stark contrast with the ceremony location as we had electricity, indoor plumbing, air conditioning, and green, watered grass! Poetic Images by Deanna is based in New Mexico and travels all over the world to photograph your wedding day!
There is nothing like a wedding in the historic Loretto church in Santa Fe, NM! The legend and the staircase are both special and couples in love come from all over the world to be married in this famous building on the plaza.
Betsy and Jimmy knew from the beginning stages of their engagement that their wedding and reception would be taken care of by the Loretto resort. I personally love photographing weddings at this venue as the staff is always friendly, helpful, and everything is precisely on-time. Santa Fe lends itself so beautifully to photography, it’s always a pleasure to document brides and grooms in “the city different.”

It was such a great pleasure to photograph these brides, whom are hearing impaired! These gals were so amazing to watch during the wedding ceremony. The emotion that they exhibited in their signing was beautiful. The vows were interpreted so everyone knew what these women were signing; as so these women knew what the minister was speaking. I loved how these ladies held one another’s vows when it was time to “recite” them, how they were so connected through their eyes. Congratulations to these lovely gals! I am excited to photograph another hearing impaired wedding!
We were able to capture this Grandma and Grandpa with their kids and grandkids at this shoot in the beautiful, green forest in the Black Hills of South Dakota! The fun part of this shoot was doing the posing, smiling, and shots as fast as we could as the light kept growing darker and darker and the thunder sounding closer and closer! In 30 minutes we got photos of the entire group, headshots of all of the adults, the couples together, the kids together, each individual family, all of the children individually, and the grandparents with their grandchildren. That’s some fast shooting!!
This darling little chap was all smiles for his 9-month-old baby portraits! He was proud to show off his standing and walking skills and gave me smiles and laughter on queue. Brogan’s mom and dad stepped in so we were able to photograph the entire family as well as mom/baby, dad/baby, and of course the sweet baby all alone. We will capture this cutie’s next modeling session at his one year mark.
This couple came from Denver, Colorado to celebrate their destination wedding in Taos, NM! The Kit Carson Home was an awesome outdoor location with their darling courtyard complete with refinished antiques, turquoise window sills and purple flowers. There were approximately 30 guests present. The afternoon, summer wedding was short and sweet and ended with Scottish bagpipes to celebrate the bride’s Scottish heritage. This perfect ceremony was followed by an elegant dinner at locals’ favorite restaurant, The Love Apple.
Although the hike was straight up and in the rain, the views were beyond outstanding!! Dreya and Derek came from Oklahoma to get married in Ute Park, NM on their favorite cliff. The rain subsided as soon as we made it to the top of the mountain and the breeze picked up perfectly when we wanted a cool photo with Dreya’s French veil…We were so happy that mother nature cooperated with us! Congratulations to a fabulous couple who will, no doubt, continue to reach new heights together!
There are so many positive reasons to elope and enjoy a wedding ceremony with just your partner! This couple came from Kansas to enjoy a wedding day all to themselves. They enjoyed a lovely breakfast and a morning walking around Taos Pueblo. After exchanging their vows at their private wedding ceremony in front of Taos Mountain, they had a champagne toast and did the traditional “good luck” wedding cake cutting. The afternoon was kept open for a splash in the hot tub and a relaxing dinner.
