We are constantly shooting photo sessions for head shots for Taos small business owners! Our head shot shoots usually only take 35-40 minutes and you have 30+ photographs (and almost as many different poses) to choose from. Head shots aren’t only awesome for businesses, but they also work great for Facebook profile photos, online dating photos, and gifts for friends and family.
What fun to document the first time that same sex marriage licenses were issued in Taos County! New Mexicans came to the courthouse to pick up their marriage licenses and to get married! At least four weddings took place immediately, directly in front of the Taos County Courthouse. There were tears of joy and sounds of happiness as people finally began their “legal” road of “happily ever after.”
It is “that” time of year again! Have you scheduled a photo shoot to commemorate your senior year of high school? It is usually the end of September when the Taos High School yearbook staff requires a senior picture (in form of a digital image) from all senior students. Give us a holler (call, text, email), we’ll get some incredible photos and make this a quick, pleasant, and easy experience for you!
Where stock photography once cornered the market, business owners are now using rights-protected photography for imagery to adorn their websites. When Poetic Images comes to your place of business to take photos for your website, we take into consideration the various photographs you will need to make your website visually exciting. We will take photos that you can use for backgrounds, photos of your logo, photos of your office building, your staff, and interactions you may have with clients. It’s the little details from wedding day that make your day so memorable (and my day so fun to photograph)! Ashleigh and Matthew didn’t miss a beat when doing their wedding planning. The dress was altered and pressed, the wedding rings were shined, the decorative Ball jars were adorned with pink roses and baby’s breath, hung from the apple orchard trees with great care. This wedding took place in the beautiful Taos Ski Valley with the ceremony on the bride’s private hacienda. The reception took place at the popular St. Bernard.
Lia and Brandon were married in the Sacred Circle at the El Monte Sagrado. Wedding day started out with extremely rainy conditions but the weather cleared up in perfect timing for the arrival of the guests and the sun came out just as the by the beautiful bride walked down the aisle.
Jessica and Carlos experienced the wedding of their dreams when they were married on top of a mountain in Angel Fire, NM! The ceremony was officiated by a friend of the family and the food was catered by the brother of the groom (who was also the best man)! This beautiful bride put a lot of thought into the details of her wedding. For instance, she made a gorgeous broach bouquet instead of a traditional bouquet with fresh flowers. The groomsmen wore “superhero” boutonnieres that were also made by this creative bride. There were so many laughs at this wedding, this couple will indeed live “happily ever after.”
The summer is a great time to have those beautiful green backgrounds in your professional family photographs! This family traveled to Taos to celebrate Father’s Day. While they were here, they took advantage of their family reunion and scheduled a photo session with Poetic Images. We had fun getting photos of the entire family together, each individual couple, photos of the kids, photos of each individual family, and pictures of the grandparents with the grandchildren too! This family did a great job coordinating outfits and giving sincere smiles. What a wonderful way to remember a vacation and a family get-together in gorgeous Taos, NM!
There is not a more beautiful backdrop for a wedding than the Sangre de Cristo mountain range that adorns the landscape of Taos, NM! For this reason, KTAOS Solar Center is a picture-perfect place to get married. Ali and Brian had an outdoor wedding in front of Taos Mountain and an outdoor reception to follow. After dinner was served, the bride, groom, and guests moved inside the venue for the first dance, the father/daughter dance, and to boogie down.
There is nothing like the feeling of a small and intimate wedding. This bride and groom came to Taos, NM to tie the knot and celebrate their love with only one another. They will have a reception celebration in Albuquerque, NM after they return from their honeymoon.

Not only is Shyloe a princess, but she’s a champ! We took this portrait session in less than 15 minutes because it was so cold outside. Shyloe was such a big girl, so cooperative and smiley considering the early morning spring chill in the air!
I love that you can “feel” the Taos springtime in these engagement photos. The buds are barely coming out on some of the trees and bushes, and there are small leaves on the others. The light green is radiant in the backgrounds and the earth tones are still prevalent from winter’s slow departure.
This is an extremely busy time for photographers who capture the smiles of high school seniors! Our senior photo sessions usually take about 90 minutes and produce approx 100 proofs for you to choose your favorite images. We encourage our seniors to bring several changes of clothes so we can document various ‘attitudes’ in your photos. Call us to set up your high school senior photography session! (575) 779-0755
As soon as the temperatures started to warm up in Taos, Airen called to schedule an appointment for a photo session of her children! This beautiful baby boy is six months old and his awesome big sister is five years old. Brother has mom’s eyes and Sister has dad’s eyes. This family of four had beautiful smiles and we captured their essence in under 45 minutes. Sometimes my job is too easy!! I am looking forward to working with this family again next spring!!
April is a tricky month for outdoor senior portraits in Taos! Brandy’s high school senior photos turned out gorgeous, one would never guess that we photographed her in 35 degree temps (did I mention that chilly wind)!?! Even with the cold temps, we had a blast during this photo session. And isn’t the outdoor lighting stunning?! Congrats to the class of 2012 and thank you for your patronage!
Sven and Amy brought 40 guests to Taos, NM to help them celebrate their April wedding ceremony and reception! There was a beautiful grey mist over Taos Mountain and a crisp spring feeling in the air. Their wedding ceremony took place at a local bed and breakfast and was adorned with beautiful music from a local harpist.
Springtime is a perfect time to call us to capture your children’s smiling faces and Easter outfits! Usually at this time of year, we have some green buds on the trees and some kind of flowering tree that look beautiful in your photographs. Did you know that all of our photo sessions include an outfit change just in case you would like to get some photos that are a bit more casual and some photographs that are a bit more dressy?
Amber and Derek were married in Angel Fire, NM in early spring towards the end of the ski season. Amber’s favorite colors are black and red and she incorporated these colors into her ceremony and reception decor, her cake, wedding bouquet, jewelry, bridesmaids dresses, and her shoes! It’s always fun to photograph an Angel Fire wedding. Congratulations to this fun couple!
There is nothing more fun than playing dress up! A shout-out to all brides to call Poetic Images to schedule your bridal shoot! A bridal photography session is different from your wedding day because we have more time to get creative. This shoot is also an absolute MUST for brides because it gives YOU a chance to get your hair and makeup done, your flowers arranged, your dress ready to go, AND you are able to view all of the fine details in your bridal portrait photographs.
This couple was all cuddles and smiles, which makes our job easy!! An engagement session actually creates cuddles and smiles, as your photographer will put you into poses that are oh-so-romantic. An engagement sitting only takes about 45 minutes and is a great way for you to get to know your wedding photographer and see samples of his/her work before your “big day.” Engagement shoots are done anywhere from a month to a year prior to your wedding and the photos are often times used for invitations, thank you cards, and to display at your wedding reception.
Our high school photography sessions are so popular! No matter what time of year we do your high school senior’s pictures, we have fantastic natural backgrounds to show off your incredible senior and his/her personality. We love it when your senior brings several different changes of clothing, so we can capture various attitudes and interests. We also allow extra time for all of our senior sittings so there is plenty of time for different hair-dos and jewelry. Call us to schedule your senior’s photographs today!
