This couple did not want anything fancy for their wedding so they decided to get married at the Taos County Courthouse. Judge Shannon officiated the casual wedding ceremony. The wedding vows and ring exchange was completed in less than five minutes, it took longer to get the marriage license! When we walked outside we were greeted with a winter snowstorm (there wasn’t a bit of snow on the ground when we entered the courthouse) which was a surprise and certainly good luck on a wedding day. Congratulations to Alida and Mark!
We had beautiful leaves and gorgeous light during this Taos High School senior photo session! All senior sessions are up to 1.5 hours long, and includes up to six changes in clothing. We encourage our seniors to bring special mementos like letter jackets, senior class rings, medals or trophys, etc so we can showcase your special high school moments. We photograph unlimited poses and with traditional and crazy angles so you have a large selection of photos to choose from. Serving all public and private high schools in the Northern New Mexico area!
The crisp “crunch” of the autumn leaves and the stunning fall time light are only two reasons to plan your destination wedding elopement in Taos, NM! Other reasons? The views in Northern New Mexico are gorgeous from every angle. The leaves on the trees are changing and it’s stunning! The people in Taos are diverse and friendly! We have incredible food and lodging! Poetic Images’ photography reflects the unique and outstanding place Taos is to get married. Book early to reserve your wedding date!
Marianne said that she googled, “best place to have wedding” and El Monte Sagrado (a four diamond resort) in Taos, NM came up! So Marianne and Brian came were married at the El Monte, in Taos. The day was cloudy but the rain held off and the light was perfect. Marianne and Brian were all smiles as they tied the knot. This couple LOVED New Mexico and can’t wait to come back again!
Michelle and James could not have planned their destination wedding any better! Their small outdoor ceremony took place on the perfect day exhibiting the breathtaking fall foliage here in Taos, NM! The leaves on the ground were thick and crunchy and the vines crawling along the adobe were in the height of their saturation. Each tree variation offered a different color as their job was to advertise a wedding in autumn in Northern New Mexico!
I love taking advantage of Albuquerque’s Bosque when I am shooting down in The Duke City! El Bosque (the forest) is by the Rio Grande and much more lush than a lot of places in Albuquerque. The cottonwoods are both new and old, and give us both needed shade and beautiful lines in the backgrounds of our photos.
I had a wonderful time “playing” down by the river, especially with these kids. The hike with this family (and their dog) was fun and adventurous, an outstanding day out of the office!
This incredible couple came from Georgia to get married in Taos, NM! The wedding party was made up of four people, the best friends of the grooms. The shadows were long and the light was beautiful. The ceremony took place right before sunset and the glow on Taos’ mountains was outstanding.
I had so much fun “hanging out” with this gal as did this photo shoot. Not only does this Taos Academy senior attend AP classes (so she is receiving college credit) but she also works and babysits in her “free” time! Here’s to all of the Taos seniors who are graduating in 2015! What a lot of hard work and a great accomplishment!
Julie and Julian had a private and intimate ceremony at a location they stumbled upon while hiking outside of Taos. The cross and arch adorned this outdoor scene and a sign “heaven awaits” was a little walk away. The couple and their children took part in a sand ceremony together. The children were also included in the nuptials when the bride and groom recited vows to one another and to their kids as well.
The fall time colors were just starting to appear at this early October engagement shoot! We can usually get about 80 REALLY fantastic photos in about 45 minutes during your photo session. We always get traditional and “artsy” photos of the engaged couple, and photos of you separately if you’d like as well. We have awesome locations with a variety of backgrounds “up our sleeve,” but are always more than happy to learn about your incredible locations as well!
Marsha and Christopher live in Mora, NM! This loving couple came over to Taos to have a beautiful ceremony with Marsha’s parents and their two sons. This small outdoor wedding took place next to the famous Rio Grande Gorge with the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in the background.
There is nothing like standing next to class 3 rapids to photograph the union of two wonderful women! This couple came all of the way from Indiana to Taos, NM (well, actually Pilar, NM) to have a legal marriage! The wedding took place where two rivers come together, the perfect metaphor for a wedding ceremony. The roar from the water and the hollers of “congrats” from the whitewater rafters intensified the already extraordinary energy of this wedding. Officiant, Dan Jones of Embracing Ceremonies, delivered a gorgeous ceremony, there was not a dry eye among the guests. Congrats to Kim and Melissa!
This bride and groom found and booked their entire destination wedding online! It is actually very common for couples to find their wedding vendors online. In “the olden days,” one had to rely on word-of-mouth to know if a vendor was reliable, this was problematic when planning a destination wedding. Now a simple Google search can tell you so much about your wedding photographer, florist, officiant, and wedding venue. Elopements are increasingly popular and all-inclusive destination wedding packages are created to cater to brides and grooms who just want to sit back and relax and enjoy the most important day of your lives.
If you are planning a wedding from afar, hit Poetic Images up with your questions! We would love to be your guide through the process of a Taos elopement for your destination wedding in Northern New Mexico!
The beauty that SpiriTaos offers is unconditionally pristine! Every plant and stone is perfectly placed by officiant (and gardener) Dan Jones. Each month offers various flowering plants, fruits, and vegetables! The sound of water is present from everywhere in the garden and the energy just feels “right” for a wedding. The unobstructed mountain views are the perfect backdrop for your wedding at an altar adorned with heart rocks and red willow.
It’s always fun to photograph a future model! We love to help men and women build a modeling portfolio that shows the different faces of a particular person. We specialize in posing our clients so even people new to the modeling scene can get some great shots.
The Angel Fire Country Club is a remarkable place to seal your wedding vows! The lush grass and gorgeous pine offer a beautiful, green backdrop that few other venues can compete with. Wheeler Peak (New Mexico’s tallest mountain) is visible from the outdoor, summer reception area; additionally you are surrounded by mountains as you sit at 8600 feet.
This lovely bride and groom came from Texas to Taos for the wedding of their dreams!
The bride’s mother and sister are florists so of course every flower was in perfect place, a wonderful display of beauty and color!
The wedding party wore royal blue which was vibrant under the grey skies. The San Geronimo Lodge was so photogenic with the beautiful grounds and wonderful adobe architecture.
This couple closed the sale on their new Taos home and were married in their new home’s backyard, all in one day! We had a gorgeous summer day and beautiful views as we all celebrated a wedding and a new house! The bride and groom broke out in smile almost every time they looked at one another. There was a perfect breeze and a bird singing during the entire wedding. Every part of nature welcomed these wedding nuptials!
These dapper men were wed on a perfect summer day. Taos’ four diamond resort, El Monte Sagrado, was an extremely “green” venue with beautiful green grass fed with grey water! The Episcopalian ceremony was short and intimate with maid of honor and best man giving speeches and the beautiful couple delivering extremely emotional vows.
I have shot a lot of same-sex weddings this year! Because Taos is a popular destination wedding location, AND because it is legal for same-sex couples to get married in New Mexico, there are a lot of couples traveling from afar (MANY from Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma) to exchange wedding vows and rings at a marriage ceremony here in Northern New Mexico!
We love photographing women in the prime of their pregnancy! A prenatal shoot with Poetic Images only takes about 45 minutes and we get so many wonderful and memorable images! Some women want to show their bare belly, some do not, and either way is fine. We encourage mommy to bring along a few different maternity outfits, and a favorite baby onesie or booties for some more creative photographs; we always get those traditional baby bump shots as well. We shoot all maternity photos after 35 weeks so we can get the full scope of that beautiful, pregnant, round body. Look ahead and call us today schedule your third trimester photo session.
My favorite shoots are when I have the opportunity to capture the precious smiles of children. My first photography job was actually a “mall job” taking photographs of kids. My manager was at least 10 years younger than me and I had to wear a necktie, the experience was humiliating. However, I did learn some “tricks” to get the young ones to smile, and this knowledge has been totally invaluable to me.
This little guy was “text book” in responding to my smiling tricks. We documented these smiles in less than five minutes AND had a blast doing it! I’ve been photographing this little man since he was just days old. I love my job.
It never ceases to amazing me how many people travel to Taos to get married! It is not necessarily “easy” to get here. Usually people need to fly into Albuquerque and then rent a car to make the 2.5 hour drive to Taos which is located in Northern New Mexico. When there are guests attending the wedding celebrations, there is a lot of thought and preparation into the travel alone!
However I do believe that Taos must be the perfect place to get married! The weather here is perfect nearly every day. The people here are genuinely kind and helpful. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range and sagebrush filled mesas are inspiring and look as though they are out of a book. The architecture and “off the grid” living are unique and special.
So even if Taos is not a hop, skip, and jump away, the wonder of Taos is worth it. Consider Taos, New Mexico to be your destination wedding venue. Bring your guests or consider eloping off the beaten path, in a place that used to be referred to as the wild west.
